Backwoods Beats aims to foster a strong community through live music, public land advocacy, and safety education for party goers. We achieve these goals through producing live music events, social media campaigns, and providing educational resources to our community.
This is how it all started…
Ivan had a sound system and Marley had a mountain. The two novice ravers brought all their friends to the top of that mountain and danced through a hail storm.
Backwoods Beats got started for no particular reason. Honestly, Mar and Ivan were just trying to have some fun in May of 2024 and it happened to be that Missoula was going through an EDM great-depression. Marley connected with the right people in our local scene and Ivan trained up essential technical skills to put on events. Together they began to scale this little business into a culture machine.
Once these two ravers realized the impact that they could have on the community, they started to seek out a mission. Following the 2024 election, public lands in Montana were put at risk of becoming privatized. Backwoods Beats quickly assumed its purpose and identity; it is the byproduct of a corrupted system of land management. Backwoods Beats is now proud to declare that poor government decisions birthed us as an advocacy group to protect our land – our sacred partying grounds.
More to come soon…(We’re a four-person team without the bandwidth to finish this website, haha)
